    The American Red Cross responds to home fires and other emergencies by providing immediate, compassionate support to affected individuals and families. We assess urgent needs and offer essential services to those who qualify such as temporary lodging, financial assistance for food and clothing, emotional support, and help with recovery planning. Our goal is to ensure those impacted have safe shelter, basic necessities, and guidance as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

  • Burlington United Methodist Services Right From The Start

    Your Designated Care Coordinator (DCC) can help you learn the skills and resources to keep you and your family safe, healthy and happy, such as: Feeding, bathing and changing your baby, putting your baby down for sleep safely, good nutrition for you and your baby, creating a positive and healthy family environment. Your DCC will also help you while you’re pregnant to get all of the information you need such as: childbirth and labor, nutrition and breastfeeding, body changes during pregnancy, quitting smoking, community support/resources (WIC, WV Department of Human Services, etc), providing resources for mileage reimbursement for trips to and from medical appointments, helping find a place to live, finding baby care items.

  • Family Crisis Intervention Center

    As a domestic violence and rape crisis center, the Family Crisis Intervention Center provides free and confidential services to women, men, and children who are victims of domestic and sexual violence.

  • Help Me Grow

    ​Help Me Grow is a FREE referral service that connects families with critical developmental resources for their children birth through eight years. The goal of Help Me Grow is to successfully identify children at-risk and link them to the help they need.

    Help Me Grow offers parents and medical providers:
    Referral line – Get expert advice and a referral to community resources to help support early childhood development; and
    Ages and Stages Screening Questionnaire – 3 (ASQ-3)TM – A developmental screening tool that’s endorsed by West Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and available upon request.
    Help Me Grow is part of a national program that connects families to resources right here in West Virginia. The program is funded by the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health, West Virginia Home Visitation Program.

    Education: Mental Health education: MHFA- Adult, Youth, Teen, Suicide Prevention: QPR, AID, SOS: Signs of Suicide, NAMI Specific programing for individuals with mental health conditions and their loved ones.
    Support: Wheeling Drop in Center provides safe supportive place for people with mental health conditions to find community, resources, and activities. Peer Recovery Coaches are availible to work with individuals and family members to support mental health recovery.
